Stank Face

Stank Face

StankFace is an instrument that uses the facial expressions of a performing musician as a second instrument, allowing guitarists, pianists, bassists, and more to be their own accompanist. The software uses machine learning to analyze key points in the performer's face and then converts these to numerical parameters. These parameters are then sent to a max patch that interfaces with Ableton live. This makes the software extremely modular, allowing the performer to control an instrument or modulate an existing sound depending on the context of the performance. For more information on the project and demonstration of StankFace in action in one of my own songs, check out my video on the project, as well as the project's github repo.
